What does a drain or sewer camera actually show?

A push camera on a flexible cable travels through the pipe and streams live video back to a monitor, letting the technician see cracks, offset joints, tree roots, grease buildup, or a low spot known as a belly. It is the difference between diagnosing a line from what comes out of it and actually looking at what is wrong inside it.

Why do we record the footage instead of just watching it live?

A recorded inspection lets us mark the exact footage where a defect appears and match it to a locate reading on the surface, so we know precisely where to dig or where to feed a trenchless liner. It also gives you a copy of what we found, so you are not taking our word for the condition of a line you cannot see.

  • Defects are logged against a footage counter
  • Locate readings pinpoint the spot from the surface
  • You can keep a copy of the recording

When does a camera inspection happen in a typical job?

We usually run a camera before quoting sewer repair or trenchless work, and again after the repair to confirm the line is clear and the fix held. Recurring clogs, slow drains after a snake, or a home purchase inspection are common reasons to ask for one on its own.
